Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I’ll worship Your holy name
As many of you know Pie has the flu. Monday I spent all day trying everything I could to get her fever to break but nothing was working.
I alternated between infant Tylenol and infant Advil. I encouraged fluids. I used cool compresses on her. And I gave her a cool bath to which she screamed bloody murder so long that Cakey was crying too.
I was so worried about her that there was no way I was letting her sleep without me nearby to constantly check on her. Around 10 pm I was able to give her another dose of Tylenol and then we snuggled down in the recliner to spend the night there. I was fervently praying over her and noticed around 11 pm that she was starting to sweat but just a little. By midnight she was profusely sweating and she felt cooler to the touch. The first thing that popped into my head as I started praying my thank yous to God was those song lyrics above.
You’re rich in love, and You’re slow to anger
Your name is great, and Your heart is kind
For all Your goodness I will keep on singing
Ten thousand reasons for my heart to find
The song was literally radiating through my heart and soul. I was unable to help myself from starting to sing it softly while I stroked Pie’s back.
What happened next was truly God speaking to me.
Pie pushed herself up off my chest, sat up, and looked at me. Then she gave me her sweet, happy-to-see-you smile, which made tears roll down my cheeks. In the dim light of the living room her smile melted away the remaining fears I was holding in and poured in God’s love.
I could not contain my prayers and singing of thanksgiving after that.
I am always amazed at the different ways God can speak right to me no matter what the circumstance is.
