Fireworks Painting with Forks
How to paint:
  1. Cover the work area to protect the surfaces.
  2. On a paper plate, put a blob or two of paint. Thin with water if needed.
  3. Repeat for as many colors as needed. I managed to get two colors on each plate.
  4. Dab the base of the fork into the paint.
  5. Gently rock the fork prongs across the construction paper.
  6. Repeat as many times as needed to create a firework, at least 4 but more looks better.
  7. Rinse fork and repeat with a different color.

The kids all enjoyed this new way of painting but found it challenging to get the fork marks exactly. We used plastic forks maybe metal forks will work better?

Firework Painting with Toilet Paper Rolls
Supplies:
  • Construction Paper
  • Craft paint like tempera, acrylic, or a washable kind
  • Paper plate
  • Toilet paper rolls (1 per color of paint)
  • Scissors
  • Paper towels

Firework Painting with Toilet Paper Rolls
How to paint:
  1. Cover the work area to protect the surfaces.
  2. Using the scissors cut strips about an inch long all the way around the toilet paper roll.
  3. Then fan out the strips all the way around the toilet paper roll.
  4. On a paper plate, put a blob or two of paint in the middle. Thin with water if needed.
  5. Repeat for as many colors as needed. One color per plate works well if you don’t want mixed colors.
  6. Dab the fanned out strips of the toilet paper roll into the paint.
  7. Gently push the toilet paper roll onto the construction paper.
  8. Then push each strip down if needed.
  9. Use a different toilet paper roll with a different color to create more fireworks.

The kids loved this new way of painting and had fun creating there own interpretations of fireworks.

  2. Using an eye dropper, drop a dot of paint on the paper.
  3. Then use the straw to blow the paint around the paper.
  4. Repeat with a different color to create another firework.

The kids were indifferent with this new way of painting. It was pretty challenging to blow the paint. They switched to painting with the straw dipped in the paint and making splatter marks with paintbrushes.

  3. Then cover the whole design with a layer of table salt.
  4. Carefully, pick the paper up and shake the salt into the tray.
  5. Let the salt dry.
  6. Once the salt is dry, use a paintbrush to apply a dot of water-downed paint to the salt.
  7. Repeat as many times as needed to color the firework.
  8. Follow the same process for each firework on the paper.
