I have always used detangler spray on the girls to make combing their hair easier. I usually make homemade detangler spray and it lasts for quite a while.
This easy homemade detangler spray is effortless to make and takes less than 5 minutes to whip up. It only contains 2 ingredients and can be made for practically nothing!
Now that the girls are older they are trying to be more independent which means they are trying to comb their own hair. However, this means they are going through a lot of spray. So I have to make it more often.

Conveniently, the homemade detangler spray only uses two ingredients. Water and conditioner. I like to use the free sample packs and bottles of conditioner that you usually get from Ulta or Sephora (make sure you go through Rakuten to get cash back before you order!) when you order online or from hotels. This makes the detangler spray practically free!
Easy Homemade Detangler Spray
Supplies:
- Spray bottle (10 oz size)
- Water
- Conditioner (sample pack or your favorite bottle kind)
- Measuring spoon
Directions:
- Add 8 ounces of water to the spray bottle.
- Add 2 tablespoons of conditioner to the spray bottle. 2 tablespoons is about the amount in most sample packs of conditioner.
- Replace the spray bottle nozzle and tighten.
- Gently swirl the spray bottle around to mix the two together.
The cost for this detangler is greatly reduced if you use free samples and if you have a spray bottle you can reuse.

I love this easy homemade detangler spray! It makes combing the girls’ hair so easy and since I use free samples it’s super cheap. Which is great because we seem to be going through a bottle every 6 weeks or so.
