Today I’m sharing my experience with during my Facebook free month with a Facebook Free Update. I spent the entire month of September off of Facebook and it was WONDERFUL. I loved it! I mean really and truly loved it!
At first it was kind of hard. I was so used to opening Facebook on my phone and scrolling through it whenever I was bored or needed a break. During the first week of my 30 day break I realized that I spent more time on Facebook than I thought I did. Assuming that I looked at Facebook for 15 minutes each time I was bored or needed a break, I would have spent almost 1.5 hours everyday! That is a lot.
I noticed something else during this break too. I was less stressed out and irritated during it. Apparently, not looking at all the whining, crying, and look-at-me-I’m-an-attention-hog Facebook statuses was very relieving to me. I honestly did not miss seeing those status one bit. I think I will begin cutting people off my Facebook feed.
Also it turns out Facebook missed me more than I missed it! About two days after I stopped logging in to Facebook they started emailing me. Everyday. I never opened those emails but it made me laugh at how much they thought I was missing out on.
I do find it kind of funny and ironic that immediately after my Facebook sabbatical I host a Jamberry Nail Wrap Facebook Party! Because of the party I have to log in to Facebook each day and try to keep the fun going during the party.
As soon as the party is over, I will be going back to my original Facebook plan of only logging in to Facebook twice a week and from my computer only. I will not be using Facebook on my phone and I will not be installing Facebook Messenger either.
I still think I want to delete my Facebook account but I have my Bible study group and my MOMs group on there and I really love connecting with those ladies. Checking in and seeing the prayer requests or praise reports from those groups is something I look forward too because it allows me to be able to pray for them immediately.
Did you take a break from Facebook? What was your experience like?
Have a blessed day!
