I don’t know maybe it’s just me but I feel like social media, actually just Facebook, is sucking the life out of me. I’m not kidding. I feel like whenever I log in to Facebook I get sucked into a black hole and time just disappears.
Honestly, I’m a Facebook skimmer. When I’m on Facebook via my phone I just scroll through briefly reading each post and if it interests me I will read the article or comment on my friend’s post.
Usually, I have to table the articles I want to read until later. Then when I have a few minutes, like after the girls go to bed, I go back (and spend forever trying to find it) and read it.
My major problem is that I get sucked in and before I realize it 30 minutes or even an hour has gone by and I have nothing to show for it!
I know it’s ironic, isn’t it a blogger complaining about social media! 🙂 Well, really it is just Facebook I’m complaining about.
So what are you going to do about it, Brandi??
Starting September 1st, I’m taking a Facebook sabbatical. I plan on taking this break for 30 days. I originally planned on limiting my Facebook time to two 15 minute computer segments twice a week for personal Facebook time, that way I could keep up to date on my Bible Study Group but some of them are participating in this Facebook sabbatical too! So everyone is suppose to text or email any updates. And absolutely ZERO minutes from my phone!
I removed the Facebook icon from my homescreen on my phone about a week ago. I’m even considering uninstalling it completely from my phone.
Now just to clarify this means actually getting on Facebook. This does not include automatic posts or crossover posting to Facebook. By crossover posts I mean when I upload a photo to Instagram and Instagram sends the photo to Facebook.
I’m hoping this sabbatical will show me extra time I have in my day and help me use it better.
Do you feel a need for a Facebook break? Why don’t you join me during this 30 day Facebook Free?
Have a blessed day!
