The Cave Inn BBQ Review James here, bringing word of a great spot for carnivores in Winter Garden, Florida! This week I found that someone had delivered menus for a new BBQ in town, the “Cave Inn BBQ.” The restaurant had a caveman theme, with neanderthal and dinosaur named dishes. They earned my business with the disclaimer at the bottom of their menu: “We do realize that cavemen and dinosaurs did not actually coexist…but let’s face it, dinosaurs are just cool!”
Religio-politico arguments aside, I found the playful sense of humor appealing, and the menu even more so. Check out the paleo-burger on their menu.
It’s a whole pound of choice ground beef topped with bacon. True to the paleo fad diet, the bun is “available on request.” I had it with the bun and added some pepperjack cheese and signature barbecue sauce. Good thing I didn’t eat lunch that day in anticipation. It was a carnivore’s delight! I am about to commit blasphemy, but the beef was so perfectly cooked that I think I would have enjoyed it…even without bacon. I’m…I’m so ashamed!
We got carry out, but I recommend either dining in or ordering the carry out in person. I placed the order over the phone and the lady on the other end was either having a bad night or is a bit ditzy, because it took her about six times to get the order right. I like to assume the best of people, so I’m going with it was a bad night. The atmosphere at first glance is simple family restaurant with caveman-themed decorations. On a Friday night in the early evening it had a small crowd of mostly younger families, but I understand that they get a little rowdier on football nights and have an open mic night on Saturdays.
The Cave Inn is located at 13848 Tilden Road in Winter Garden, Florida. Unleash your inner caveman and partake of the “Mmmeat!”
