Disclosure: I received a sample pack of Emergen-C Vitamin Drink Mix from Smiley360 for the purpose of my honest review. All opinions are my own.
I don’t know about you, but the season when we have to start fighting colds the most is usually in the transition from winter to spring. There is just something about the cool mornings, followed by hot afternoons, and ending with cool evenings that confuses our immune systems. 🙂 Maybe it’s just a Florida thing? But I don’t think so. Today I wanted to share how we try to beat the cold season.
We try to get more sleep, though toddlers make this part hard. The body needs 6-8 hours of sleep each night to repair and heal itself.
We drink more water, and do a good job at this part. James and I both keep a full cup or thermos of water with a straw to stay hydrated. Using a straw helps us drink more throughout the day for some reason, and hydration is great for overall health.
A daily exercise regimen is a good idea to keep you moving. We haven’t quite reached that yet, but we stay active and do a dedicated workout at least three times a week.
Cleanliness is vital. We go crazy on hand washing, using soap and water for 20 seconds (which is about as long as it takes to sing Happy Birthday to yourself twice). You should wash as often as possible especially if you have been around sick people or in community areas. After sickness has passed, we do a deep clean and launder all the sheets, towels, clothes, and washcloths in a mega-cleaning that takes all day.
We try to boost vitamin intake. The best way is eating more vegetables and fruits. We eat a lot more salads this time of year, because dark leafy greens are a great place to start since they contain vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants your body needs to take care of itself. We also supplement with multivitamins. I tried out Emergen-C Vitamin Drink Mix, because James and I are both forgetful about taking our pills. I can keep a few of the powder packs in my car, purse, gym bag, desk drawer, or wherever, and then I get a handy reminder to take my vitamins when I come across them.
Emergen-C Vitamin Drink Mix has over 20 flavors! They even have ones that are to be drunk hot! Some of the flavors are Super Orange, Coconut-Pineapple, Strawberry-Kiwi, Immune+ Citrus, Warmers Berry Melody. I received those 5 flavors as samples to try. I gave some away to friends to try and I tried a couple. I really enjoyed the Emergen-C Vitamin Drink Mix Strawberry-Kiwi. I thought the flavor was good. However, I could do without the fizzyness, I found it weird and did not care for it.
The other flavor I tried was Emergen-C Vitamin Drink Mix Warmers Berry Melody. I thought this one was awful. The taste was yucky and I could barely choke down two swallows before I poured it out. Again the fizzyness was partly to blame but the flavor was just wrong. It tasted like warm, melted kind of berry flavored. I did not enjoy that flavor at all. James tried the Emergen-C Vitamin Drink Mix Super Orange and he enjoyed it, though he said it was powdery. Guess why? He puts the powder in a small cup, then bolts it down with about a shot-glass worth of water. Silly man!
