My sister in law, Amanda, recently got her first apartment. So exciting! Well, actually I think it is more of a studio or a really open one bedroom floor plan.
Either way, she does not have a ton of storage space. However, it is a very efficient layout with a lot more room than I expected.
We wanted to get her a little gift but have it also be something useful for her.
I knew she really needed forks so I picked up some utensils at Target. I just guessed that she would need the other utensils since she needed forks. 🙂
I love the dishcloths and dish towels I bought at Bed, Bath, and Beyond so I got her a set of each.
She had also mentioned that she was in need of plates. I assumed that her cupboards were small like mine and found a set of salad plates at Ross for her.
The girls and I picked up a few other things at other stores and before I knew it we had a cute little gift together for her.
To assemble her gift I used a rubber band secure the utensils together. Then tied a bow with a piece of ribbon. Little things like adding a ribbon to some utensils really dresses up a simple gift. And is so much prettier than the cardboard packaging the utensils came in.
To add some personal touches, Cakey picked out some candles for Nay-Nay (that is what Cakey calls her Aunt Amanda). We also added Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups to the bag because Nay-Nay loves those! I included some shower gel and lotion just because it is one of my go-to gifts.
I really like to give practical gifts. I am not a fan of trinkets and knick knacks which is probably why I don’t give those out very often. The only exception to that is if the girls do it. Then I keep whatever they give me and send whatever they make to their grandparents and such.
Are you a practical gift giver? Do you have a go-to gift for people?
Have a blessed day!
