“The Good Wife’s Guide: Embracing Your Role as a Help Meet” is written by Darlene Schacht. Maybe you have read her blog timewarpwife.com? I’m a huge fan of her blog.
In her book Darlene encourages women to joyfully serve our families.
“The Good Wife’s Guide” is designed to encourage women to make faith and our families our first priorities from a place of sacrificial love. Darlene offers reasons for achieving and maintaining a well-managed home and she backs them up with scriptures and experience. She also provides very detailed cleaning and organizing schedules.
I have read “The Good Wife’s Guide” twice since it came out a few years ago. Each time I read it I find some new treasure and have a new “Aah!” moment. Today I’m going to share with you a few things that I loved in her book.
First, it is jam packed with scriptures!
Not just any scriptures either, relevant scriptures for your whole house! I loved her idea of hanging these beautiful scriptures up in various rooms of the house. Come on now, who doesn’t need a little reminder from God on why we are scrubbing the toilet?
Every time I read “The Good Wife’s Guide” I am reminded that God created each of us with a different role and specific purpose in mind. He created women to be the “helpmeet” of their husbands. By supporting our husbands to the very best of our abilities and taking care of our families we reflect God’s love to them.
This book is packed with one of the most comprehensive cleaning schedules I have ever seen.
Did you know there are 53 steps to thoroughly cleaning the bathroom?! Me neither! Darlene includes a daily upkeep schedule, a one room per day schedule, cleaning recipes, and numerous other tips and tidbits of helpful housekeeping.
Yes this book is Christian based and filled with Biblical references. But her housekeeping advice can benefit anyone. “The Good Wife’s Guide” actually makes me excited to clean. Plus I really have to find out if there are 53 steps to cleaning my bathroom! If you like organizing and cleaning tips then you will enjoy “The Good Wife’s Guide.”
