During Tot school with the girls we focus on one letter each week. This week is the letter G. Here is our Tot School Letter G Books list.
I have been trying to read about 2 books a day or 10 books a week that fall in the theme for that week. Of course, our main focus is letters but sometimes I’ll throw in a book or two about numbers, shapes, or colors.
I am teaching both Cakey and Doodles. Although I’m teaching at Cakey’s level, I try to throw in a book or two for Doodles each week, but a good majority of the books are above both the girls. I love to challenge them through reading this way. Interestingly enough after just few weeks of doing this, both the girls are enjoying and asking for the more challenging books to be read during “non-school” time!
Below is a list of books we read for Tot School Letter G Books:
G is for Goat by Patricia Polacco – All about the crazy antics of goats from head-butting to clothes munching. Preschool – Kindergarten
Princess Gabby Girl and The Sparkly Dress by Camille Battaglia – This is a perfect book for my princess-loving girls. Gabby’s dress stays sparkly as long as she is kind and good. Grades 4 – 7th
In My Garden A Counting Book by Ward Schumaker – A cute counting book about things in the garden like watering cans, snails, onions, and peas. Preschool – 1st
Curious George Learns the Alphabet by H. A. Rey – This is such a really great book for learning the alphabet. The girls love it and request it often. They liked trying to guess what letter George was learning about. Preschool – 3rd
The Pinkish, Purplish, Bluish Egg by Bill Peet – Zeke the griffin proves that just because he’s different doesn’t mean he’s bad. This is by far Cakey’s favorite Bill Peet book. We have to read it numerous times. Preschool – 3rd
G is for One Gzonk!: An Alpha-number-bet Book By Tiny DiTerlooney – a silly fun book that features made up creatures for each letter and numbers show up randomly. Kindergarten – 3rd
Girls A to Z by Eve Bunting – A fun book about little girls and acting out their dreams from Aliki the astronaut to Zoe the zookeeper. Kindergarten – 2nd
Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss – Do you like green eggs and ham? We always enjoy reading this book. Preschool – 2nd
A Gardener’s Alphabet by Mary Azarian – Beautiful, detailed pictures enhance each word or phrase representing the garden and alphabet. Preschool – 2nd Grade
One Gorilla: A Counting Book by Anthony Browne – A fun counting book all about primates. Preschool – 2nd Grade
