During Tot school with the girls we focus on one letter each week. This week is the letter H. Here is our Tot School Letter H Books list.

I have been trying to read about 2 books a day or 10 books a week that fall in the theme for that week.  Of course, our main focus is letters but sometimes I’ll throw in a book or two about numbers, shapes, or colors.

I am teaching both Cakey and Doodles. Although I’m teaching at Cakey’s level,  I try to throw in a book or two for Doodles each week, but a good majority of the books are above both the girls.  I love to challenge them through reading this way.  Interestingly enough after just few weeks of doing this, both the girls are enjoying and asking for the more challenging books to be read during “non-school” time!

H is for Horse : An Equestrian Alphabet by Mike Ulmer

H is for Horse : An Equestrian Alphabet by Mike Ulmer – An interesting book for learning the fundamentals of horses. A lot of the book was way over the girls’ heads but the pictures were beautiful and kept them interested. 3rd – 6th grade

At the Old Haunted House by Helen Ketteman

At the Old Haunted House by Helen Ketteman – Written in the pattern of the popular poem “Over in the Meadow,” this book all kinds of Halloween creatures and counting fun! Kindergarten – 2nd grade

The Big Honey Hunt by Stan & Jan Berenstain

The Big Honey Hunt by Stan & Jan Berenstain – Oh the adventures of looking for honey. The girls always get a kick out of this book and they just love to make buzzing bee sounds. Preschool – 2nd grade

A Creepy Countdown by Charlotte Huck

A Creepy Countdown by Charlotte Huck – Count from one to ten and back down to one with these creepy characters. Preschool – 2nd grade

Home for A Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown

Home for a Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown – One little bunny searches all over for a home. Where will he live? This one of my favorite books when I was little and I’m so glad that the girls love it too. Preschool – Kindergarten

Hooper Humperdink Not Him by Theo LeSieg

Hooper Humperdink…? Not Him! by Theo LeSieg – An alphabetical array of guests turns out for the biggest birthday party ever. I honestly had no idea what to expect from this book but we enjoyed it. Preschool – Kindergarten

Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb by Al Perkins

Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb by Al Perkins -A madcap band of dancing, prancing monkeys explain hands, fingers, and thumbs. We love this book! Preschool – Kindergarten

The Little House by Virginia Lee Burton

The Little House by Virginia Lee Burton – The city grows up around the house and she misses being in the country and then one day her wish comes true! Such a cute and fun story. Preschool – 3rd grade

Horton Hears A Who by Dr. Seuss

Horton Hears A Who! by Dr. Seuss – Sweet, loyal Horton tries to protect his friends on the dust speck. A classic story that both girls love. Kindergarten – 4th grade
