During Tot school with the girls we focus on one letter each week. This week is the letter P. Here is our Tot School Letter P Books list.
I have been trying to read about 2 books a day or 10 books a week that fall in the theme for that week. Of course, our main focus is letters but sometimes I’ll throw in a book or two about numbers, shapes, or colors.
I am teaching both Cakey and Doodles. Although I’m teaching at Cakey’s level, I try to throw in a book or two for Doodles each week, but a good majority of the books are above both the girls. I love to challenge them through reading this way. Interestingly enough after just few weeks of doing this, both the girls are enjoying and asking for the more challenging books to be read during “non-school” time!
Below is a list of books we read for Tot School Letter P Books:
Oh, the Places You’ll Go by Dr. Seuss – a classic, fun book. The girls loved the colors and the typical Dr. Seuss crazy pictures. Preschool – 3rd grade
1-2-3 Peas by Keith Baker – Busy little peas engage in their favorite activities as they introduce the numbers from one to 100. Preschool – 3rd grade
Panda Bear, Panda Bear, What Do You See? by Bill Martin – Done in the same style as Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? this book features a collection of endangered animals. The girls loved this book. Preschool – 1st grade
Shiver Me Letters: A Pirate ABC by June Sobel – Pirates are searching for letters in this rollicking rhyming book. Very fun great to read out loud. Preschool – 2nd grade
Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear? by Bill Martin and Eric Carle – This book is excellent for preschoolers. My girls LOVED making each animal noise! Preschool – Kindergarten
Dinner at Panda Palace by Stephanie Calmenson and Nadine Bernard Wescott – This is a fun counting book featuring animals showing up completely famished to Panda Palace for dinner. It was great letting the girls point and count each type of animal. Preschool – 2nd grade
LMNO Peas by Keith Baker – The Alphabet Peas work and play in, on, and around the alphabet. Preschool – 3rd grade
Two Crazy Pigs by Karen Berman Nagel – This book belonged to my sister when she was in elementary school. I loved reading it to her then and loved reading it to my girls now. It’s about two pigs who cause mayhem and mischief on a farm. The farmer does not like this so the pigs leave their friends behind and search for a farm that will appreciate their uniqueness. Preschool – 3rd grade
The Spooky Tail of Prewitt Peacock by Bill Peet – Prewitt’s tail is not pretty like the other peacocks, in fact it’s scary. The other peacocks don’t like Prewitt until they discover the benefits of his tail. Preschool – 3rd grade
20 Hungry Piggies: A Number Book by Trudy Harris – The classic nursery rhyme continues as all 20 pigs try to make it to the picnic. The girls enjoyed try to spot the Big Bad Wolf and numbers hidden on each page. Kindergarten – 2nd grade
