During Tot school with the girls we focus on one letter each week. This week is the letter U. Here is our Tot School Letter U Books list.

I have been trying to read about 2 books a day or 10 books a week that fall in the theme for that week. Of course, our main focus is letters but sometimes I’ll throw in a book or two about numbers, shapes, or colors.

I am teaching both Cakey and Doodles. Although I’m teaching at Cakey’s level, I try to throw in a book or two for Doodles each week, but a good majority of the books are above both the girls. I love to challenge them through reading this way. The girls are enjoying and asking for the more challenging books to be read during “non-school” time!

Below is a list of books we read for Tot School Letter U Books:

Here are the books we read:

ABC USA by Martin Jarrie

ABC USA by Martin Jarrie – American culture and history are displayed through each letter. The words representing each letter is defined and given a bit of history at the end of the book. Preschool – 3rd Grade

The Umbrella Queen by Shirin Bridges

The Umbrella Queen by Shirin Bridges – Noot is finally allowed to paint umbrellas and she paints the same designs as her family until her imagination takes over. After getting in trouble she goes back to the traditional painting and paints her fun creations on scrap umbrellas. Noot still wonders who the King will choose as the umbrella queen. This is a great story. I learned something along with the girls. And sometimes it is okay to break tradition. Kindergarten – 3rd Grade

Great Day for Up by Dr. Seuss
