Wow! What a tough question, “Who inspires you?” Holley Gerth asked for this post. I never stop to think about who inspires me. I know I am inspired by a multitude of people at different times and situations in my life. From my little penguins to James from ladies at church to internet “friends” I find inspiration in those around me. But my constant inspiration has been my mom.
She endured so much raising her three kids. Abuse, job loss, divorce, cancer in a child, the loss of a child and yet she got up everyday with a smile on. Most people want to crawl in a hole and hide after going through just one of those things.
But my mom… She’s a FIGHTER!
She knows God is always with her and that he never leads her where He has not gone on before her. (adapted from Deuteronomy 31:8 NIV).
She handles everything with such grace and dignity, too. There were times growing up when I know if I was faced with the same situation I would have exploded, screamed, yelled, made a huge scene but my mom always handled those situations like everything else… with grace and dignity.
She has always been the voice of reason in my life. Even now. I can not count the number of times I have called her frustrated with how something was going or someone was behaving and she always speaks reason into me.
And for those times when she has no reason she chooses laughter, kindness, and God.
Count to 10 and pray is now how I try to live my life because of her.
