A couple weeks ago I noticed that my lips were a bit drier than normal. I thought at first it might have been a hydration issue but I usually drink enough water. Then I decided maybe I just needed to exfoliate them. Since I was doing some online shopping at Sephora, I thought I’d just grab a lip scrub there but I’m sorry I just can’t see paying $16+ for a lip scrub! I decided to head over to the kitchen and whip up a 2 ingredient lip scrub.
Most lip scrubs, I noticed, contained two of the same ingredients sugar (the exfoliant) and oil (the moisturizer). I opted for coconut oil because it is solid at room temperature which would make it easy to scoop out and apply.
2 Ingredient Lip Scrub

After a little experimenting I found that I liked a one to one and half ratio. This also makes the recipe very easy to double or triple if you want to make extra for gifts. I store my 2 ingredient lip scrub in a small plastic container like these on Amazon.
Supplies:
- White Sugar
- Coconut oil
- Tablespoon
- Small bowl
- Spoon
Directions:
- If your coconut oil is solid, you might want to heat it up a little to melt it.
- In a small bowl, add 1 tablespoon of white sugar and 1.5 tablespoons of coconut oil. Stir until combined.
- Pour lip scrub into desired container.

To Use:
- Scoop out a pea to dime sized dollop of the lip scrub.
- Apply to lips using fingertip and message gently.
- Wipe away with a warm, wet washcloth.
I like to apply mine right before hopping in the shower so that I can rinse it away in the shower. Easy peasy. 😉
I love the subtle hint of coconut that the scrub leaves on my lips not to mention that it tastes delicious too.
